Politics in Permanent Crisis Mode

Hello everyone, I’m increasingly concerned that politics now takes place almost exclusively in crisis mode: war, energy prices, inflation, migration, the effects of climate change—and just when one problem has been more or less put into perspective, the next one is already upon us. This creates the impression that governments primarily react instead of pursuing long-term goals. Decisions are presented as having no alternative, even though their consequences often only become visible years later.

Is this state of permanent crisis really a result of the new global situation—or do politicians also use crises to push through unpopular measures and fend off criticism? And what would you prefer: quick decisions with mistakes, or more careful consideration, even if that makes things slower?
